9 Thoughts to “Frost Sweeps German Mountains As Europe Braces For August Chill; Wildfires Are Trending Down; Heat Island Skewings; + Humans Like Warmth”
There are only two natural causes of wildfires, lava from volcanoes and lightning, all other wildfires are caused by humans, either deliberate arson, or stupidity.
While it’s true more people choose the warmer regions, don’t the longest-lived people generally live in cold climates? You know, some 110+ year old woman living in Siberia. Perhaps some combination of first off, being hardy enough to survive and thrive in a cold climate and also the cold climate sort of serving to preserve the human body mass and system functions.
Written in LIUDWERD, in the year 3349 after ATLAND was submerged – this in accordance with the Christian count, of the year 1256.
Chapter XXII: How the Bad Weather Came 1. All summer, the sun had hidden behind the clouds, as if he didn”t want to look at Irtha. There was a perpetual calm, and the damp mist hung like a wet sail over the houses and marshes. The air was heavy and oppressive, and in the hearts of men there was neither joy nor gaiety.
In the midst of this calm, Irtha began to tremble as if she were dying. The mountains opened up to vomit fire and flames. Some sank into the bosom of Irtha, and in other places mountains rose from the plain. Aldland, called Atland by navigators, has disappeared, and the wild waves have risen so high above the hill and glen that everything has been buried in the sea.
Many people were swallowed up by Irtha, and others who had escaped the fire perished in the water.
It was also in the land of Finda that Irtha vomited fire and in Twiskland. Whole forests were burned one after another, and when the wind blew this way, our land was covered with ashes. The rivers changed course, and at their mouths new islands were formed of drifting sand and debris.
This continued for three years, before ceasing, and the forests became visible again. Many countries have been submerged, and in other places the land has risen above the sea, and the timber has been destroyed by half of Twiskland. The troops of the people of Finda came and settled in the empty places. Our scattered people have been exterminated or made slaves. Then vigilance has called us doubly, and time has taught us that union is strength.
Jay, I answered that once, but it disappeared. Maybe I forgot to post it, lol. I’ve been doing that lately.
I just pointed out that creatures inimical to humans tend to get frozen out in cold climates. Not the big ones, like polar bears, but the little ones like bacteria and mold and such.

Humans like warmth? Some do, I guess, but most like moderation. Neither too hot nor too cold. That season is almost upon us, but it is all too short.

Pandora-
I’m taking mushrooms, too, but don’t seem to be exploring other dimensions. My joints don’t hurt as much, tho.

I say, that does sound like a factor, too, Deb. Less ummm microbes and such. Wound infections maybe a little less aggressive, viruses less prevalent.
I live in N Alabama. I’ll take my chances here instead of in Frostbite Falls, Minnesota.
For some reason, I thought you lived in Canada, lol.
“cold slows down metabolism”- doesn’t it do the opposite?
